Canada is America's hat.

"In the art of theatre, the actor creates each character's behavior in order to creat the illusion of a life that has never, in fact, existed. For these reasons his actions in the theatre are not natural, but fundamentally unnatural" ("Unnatural Acts", Geri Clark, Ph.D. Professor of Drama Syracuse University)

Okay, so the title has NOTHING to do with this blog but I found it so cute. Matt the Moose told me that quote today and I died laughing lol. So in a nutshell, Geri Clark is like the most amazing-ning-est person to ever walk the planet. Although she scares like the.....DARK SHIT....outta me, I swear, she is like the apple of my eye. You see, I have her for 3 classes: Intro to Acting, Intro to Theatre and Theatre Lab and for those who say that Drama or Theatre are bird classes (and trust me, us theatre kids get a lot of shit for being Drama majors like: "Oh, you're too lazy so you pick an easy major like Acting) are truely mistaken with this lady.

Do you know, that because of Gerardine Clark, Professor of Drama, that 1000 people auditioned for Musical Theatre and Acting and only 40 got in. ....40!!! That's friggin, 4% of the people who auditioned. WTF! We all did the math and the statistics and it turns out that it's harder to get into the Department of Drama at Syracuse University, than it is to get into Harvard. Yeah! If you don't believe me, check the credentials.

Okay so, back to Geri. So she writes this book called "Unnatural Acts" and I swear I friggin died, went to heaven, and played hopscotch with Jesus when I read this book. It's so inspiring (For the actor of course). Like it's things in here I would never understand as an actress if it wasn't for this book. Like, the simple fact that "Theatre allows us, through the agency of empathy, to experience like events before we are faced with them in reality without painful consequence" WTF! That's so true yet I never thought about it. Like I swear, I'm so glad I'm taking Philosophy because without it, I wouldn't be able to grasp the way this lady thinks lol. I'm sorry, I just had to mention this because like.........I feel like a hippie now

AND P.S.!! THE FRIGGIN DRAMA DEPARTMENT "CANCELLED" OPENING MARATHONS FROM NOW ON! LIKE W-T-F-!

But it's perfectly okay, because we'll no longer have it in the theatre than. Instead we'll have in the park across from the Marathon house. HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT!
